DAF System Introduction

The Dissolved Air Flotation system is a water treatment process that clarifies wastewaters by removing suspended matter such as oil or solids. The system works by dissolving air in the water under pressure and then releasing it at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank, creating microbubbles that adhere to suspended particles and float them to the surface for removal.

DAF System Work Process

The wastewater treatment process follows these steps:

  • Wastewater enters coagulation and flocculation reaction tanks where it forms flocs with PAC and PAM chemicals
  • The treated water and dissolved air enter the DAF tank's reaction zone
  • Microbubbles adhere to flocs, forming particles that float to the surface
  • Surface scum is scraped into a slag tank while clean water is collected below
  • Most water is discharged while a portion is recirculated to create dissolved water
